Frequently Asked Questions About Hidden History of Cary and Haunted Cary Experiences
Are the experiences family-friendly?
History tours: yes. Haunted tours: best for older children (14 years+) and adults. Experiences run 1 to 1.5 hours and we are walking so keep that and your fellow guests in mind when deciding on an experience.
Do outdoor experiences run in the rain?
Yes, unless there is severe weather. If that happens, you will be notified by email. You can be rescheduled or refunded.
Where do we meet?
In downtown Cary, The exact location will be provided at least 24 hours before your experience.
Can I change my tickets?
If we have space in the experience you want to move to, yes, your ticket(s) can be changed once at no charge. Contact [email protected] to see about switching dates.
Are experiences accessible?
Generally, we stay on sidewalks and paved surfaces, but sometimes we move off into the grass to get out of the way of others passing by.
I missed my experience. Can I get a refund?
No-shows will not be refunded. You can only email [email protected] to find a new date. If you feel your plans may change or worried something unexpected may come up, please purchase the ticket protection when buying your tickets for easy refund and avoid the hassle.
Are the ghost experiences scary?
They definitely can be spine-tingling as you are standing at or near the place the history and/or reported activity happened. This is especially so when we are conducting live paranormal investigations in the Extended Haunted Cary Experience. But we don't do jump scares, fake blood, or chase you down the street with a chainsaw. We tell real stories and conduct real mini-investigations using electronic equipment. We also don't fake evidence. We may get something, we may get nothing. No promises.

Why are these called experiences and not tours?
Because they are more than tours. They are designed and researched to be a place-based experiences designed by a Cary history researcher and author who has served as Cary's History Ambassador and is also storyteller, former ABC Executive Producer, multiple TEDx-er, and international keynote speaker. The experiences are immersive, interactive, engaging, and designed to not show you Cary, but experience Cary.
